I'm interested by the reaction of attraction versus repulsion that human hair provoque. Drawing hair is a very intimate subject. Drawing hairs without drawing a face create a strange feeling of absence. It can also make you think of an object : a wig for example. Some drawings of the series "hairs" are created in a way you have the feeling it's a body part like pubic hair or armpit hair making your experience discomfort, you may choose to look the other way. At the same time it's a captivating, indiscrete, secret and though engaging subject. But I don't want my drawings to scandalous or pornographic. I like them to be evocative in a sober and subtle way. I work with charcoal, Pierre noire and compressed charcoal on paper because it renders the sensuality, the lustrous and shiny appearance of hairs.
