For "The Vanishing of Cassandra Cassandra" and "The Vanishing of Marina Marine," liquid paper (white-out) was additionally employed. Year: The portraits were created in the autumn of 2024. Curation The series "The Vanishing Of" explores the concept of disappearance, symbolized in the titles of each work. But what is truly vanishing? It is not a physical or literal disappearance. The artwork invites viewers to reflect on the process of transformation and change we experience throughout life. Is there a permanent essence within us, or are we in a constant state of flux and reconfiguration? This idea connects to the classic paradox of the Ship of Theseus: do we remain the same despite the changes? The portraits are a tribute to that which inevitably fades: gestures, thoughts, emotions, and parts of our identity that transform or disappear. In the process of change, certain aspects close to us are lost, never to return. This disappearance leaves us with a mix of resignation and nostalgia. The series captures that feeling of withering away as life continues, with the audience as witnesses to transformation and loss. This collection is a visual meditation on the fragility of identity, the passage of time, and the acceptance that what disappears will not return.

Juan Martín is a contemporary artist and writer, based in Junín, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Juan has dedicated his life to creation in multiple facets, encompassing painting, drawing, and writing. His art represents a mental quest, an exploration of the subconscious manifested through an eclectic style that combines elements of expressionism and geometry. Juan's work is inspired by the past, illness, and faith in all its interpretations. Although he lacks formal academic training, he has participated in various exhibitions and published his book, reflecting his commitment to art. His work is directed at those who feel engaged by his expression, and he creates both original pieces and commissioned works, such as his piece Trisquel for a psychopedagogical center and his triptych Calendario Agua. Juan's creative process is a dance between improvisation and meticulous planning. Sometimes he is swept away by waves of creativity, producing several works in a single day; other times, he spends days conceiving a single piece. All his works are original and handmade in his studio. In addition to his artistic endeavors, Juan is a philosophy teacher and a music lover, enjoying moments of reflection accompanied by a good mate. His aim is to verbalize the inexpressible, capturing pain and suffering in his art, and making the unconscious conscious to contribute to the healing process through a kind of religious procession in the form of art.
