Dr. Manas Roy (Roymans), Dutch artist of Indian Origin, born 1954, Kolkata, India

A fusion art does not mean dropping some Western oil into Eastern Water. It is like syrup where both sugar and water is present but not standing out from one another. On the top, the syrup itself becomes a third entity. That is true global art where we see smooth fusion of cultures without contradiction.

Manas Roy (Roymans), born in 1954 in Kolkata, India is a Dutch Visual artist of Indian origin. He has been creating visual art under the signature of Roymans in Europe, Far East and Indian Sub-continent for last two decades. He is a unique combination of Engineer & Visual artist, holding PhD. in Engineering and M. F. A. (Fine Arts) from U. S. A. His art trainings of over 22 years include training in Indian Fine Arts from Indian Masters, Impressionist art form from Paris & Le Mans, Mediterranean art and sculptures from Milan and finally in Chinese brush works from South China Master Painter Kwan Su Yang. At the age of 18, before migrating to Europe, he already received the Indian National Award from Rastriya Lalit Kala Academy of India in Indian Contemporary Painting.
From 1989 onwards, he has been participating in numerous solo and group exhibitions in the Netherlands, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy and India, where his Abstract- expressionist paintings were greatly appreciated. Till date he has participated in 16 international solo and group exhibitions in Europe, Far East and India. Since 2006, Manas Roy is creating paintings & sculptures from Roymans Art Studios in Highland Park in Kolkata and Eindhoven in the Netherlands and Shantiniketan, West Bengal. His last two decades of travel in three continents made his work beyond the demographical or cultural boundaries fusing one into another as a free flow form yet keeping its root intact
