Spiritual Harmony
The formal quest to portray spiritual substance, in the modern era, in such a way that it would speak or resonate with the viewer’s soul began with Wassilly Kandinsky’s manifesto of “Concerning the Spiritual in Art” which first appeared in 1912 when he was a member of the Blue Rider Group in Munich. Essentially he talks about the emotive quality of color, the freeform association of music and painting; and the purity of non-objective form being the best way to express a true sense of spiritual harmony. The Trinity Series is my current attempt to give the viewer something to ponder in regards to the Christian concept of the Holy Trinity in terms that Kandinsky would appreciate.
