About The Artwork

This work reflects my infatuation with the history of abstraction, from the early modernism of Cubism and the School of Paris to New York School painting of Pollack, Newman and DeKooning, to the processes of Warhol and the Pop artists and beyond to the work of 1980's Neo Geo and Postmodernists like Taaffe, Halley and Levine. My process for this work begins with liquied graphite poured onto Mylar film, which is then painted over with colored inks. Finally, brushstrokes in liquid graphite are collaged onto the surface, in a considered formal composition.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

My work is a formal exploration of the 'language' of abstraction, whereby the various marks (drips, stains, brush strokes, etc) normally associated with spontaneous painterly action are performed off-site and re-presented in a manner that references digital and/or non-linear methods of image creation. The finished artwork is, despite its spontaneous appearance, a hybrid of painting and collage that has been realized slowly over time through much consideration. Richard Feaster received an MFA in Painting from Tulane University, and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. He has exhibited widely in the US and abroad, including the National Academy Museum, City University of New York and the Cheekwood Museum. His work has has been featured in the periodical New American Paintings, among others. Collections include the FirstBank Janet & Jim Ayer’s Collection of Tennessee Art, the Music City Center and the Thompson Hotel. He lives and works in Nashville, TN.
