About The Artwork
My landscape work is inspired by hikes taken in different parts of Alberta. This steep hill was near Dunvegan, in the northwest of Alberta. It was a beautiful day and we went walking but this hill just about did me in. My paintings captures the feeling of the steepness and hopefully, the effort it took to get up there. I chose graphite and watercolour. I kept the rocky area colourless (a symbol of the effort) and the top of the ridge with colour (the joy I felt when I finally got there).
