In my Vibrating Ink series, I delve into how our memory shapes our view of time—past, present, and future—drawing on Eastern traditions, ancient texts like the Vedas, astrology, and cultural symbols. I question the impact of one's birth details on their life. The series also reflects on my own ident...

Gaurii S Kumaar, aka Deepaa Koshallay, is an abstract painter, yoga instructor, and landscape consultant born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. In 2005, she moved to America and settled in Dallas, Texas. Through her work, she reflects the concept of time—past, present, future—through memory. The artist calls them "vibrating ink drawings," in which everything is destroyed and recreated. Kumaar's work is guided by the sacred symbolism of Ancient Eastern Literature, Astrology, and the determination of cultural boundaries, which unify and divide. Kumaar’s earliest creative exploration was in architecture and later in landscape architecture. She was drawn to the visual arts after spending time in the design industry. She often uses spiritual chanting during her creative process, infusing that energy into her canvas and painting. Her work animates through the interplay of color, shape, and line, surrendering to the possibilities of composition. To her, artworks are living organisms that one can converse with aloud. Establishing a dialogue between abstract art and contemplation, Kumaar’s work includes creating and leading Yoga and Art, Therapeutic Art Workshops for Crow Museum of Art 2nd location at UT Dallas, Community Art Meditative Murals, and traditional gallery shows. She holds a Master’s in Landscape Architecture with additional studies in Visual Communication from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Bachelor’s in Architecture from Pune University in Maharashtra, India. She is an honorary grant recipient by the Mesquite Art Council. Her work has won several awards and has a place in the collections of corporate offices throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Area. Her paintings have been exhibited at Irving Arts Center, Collin College Gallery, Mary Tomas Gallery, the Mesquite Arts Center, the South Dallas Cultural Center, Gallery 8680, the Other Art Fair, the Irving Art Association, and the Lincoln Experience Center, among others. Additionally, Kumaar has earned an artist’s residency at Serendipity Labs in Frisco, Texas. She has won profiles in D Magazine, Dallas Morning News, DallasWeekly, Plano Profile, Dallas Yoga Magazine, Irving Community Television Network, and other platforms.
