Drawing: Graphite, Pencil, Paper, Black & White on Paper, Other.
This piece, created entirely freehand, is part of a collection of drawings of vintage souvenir spoons. I have been archiving my grandmother's spoon collection by working my way through each one, drawing them in a way that shows the beauty of their details. I chose to do these drawings black and white, in pencil, so the detail isn't lost in layers of color. I wanted to give them a sophisticated, modern look with minimal shadow on a crisp white background. This piece shows a 1939 World's Fair spoon from New York featuring the Textile Building in the bowl of the spoon.
