This is one of many of my charcoal drawings directly inspired by a particular landscape, the Kinder Scout area of the Peak District of England. The dark, peaty water gathers and flows down from the hills into the valleys in beautiful scars carving and dividing the landscape.

I am an abstract painter based in Portsmouth, UK. I was born in Yorkshire and have lived in many parts of this country and also in Santiago de Chile. I originally studied 3D design and was in design practice for many years. In 1994 I went back to university and took a degree in Visual Studies and have been working at being an artist since graduating. I love all things monochrome, photography, Film Noir, and especially charcoal drawings. Consequently a large amount of my current output is charcoal drawings on paper. My work is mostly abstract landscape inspired by years of serious hiking and cycling. I also listen to a lot of Jazz when I'm in the studio and so have an ongoing series of drawings based on this music. I am also a songwriter/guitar player with Film Noir inspired band Murderville.
