About The Artwork

This work is drawing for installation work 'Drip'. For this work, Yoon has created DRIP, a multimedia work that depicts the first category of her theory, Process Art. In this category, she unifies the processes of installation art and painting by constructing an environment that interprets the materials and forces working together. As part of her creative process, Yoon uses repurposed modern materials, fluorescent colors, wind, light, movement, sound and gravity to reflect the presence of the intangible phenomena. DRIP was constructed using layers of various mediums, such as an enclosed bulletin board with glass, stone, canvas paper, IV Set, wind and paint. The roll of canvas paper, IV Set of paint, and wind mechanism are suspended from the ceiling. The canvas paper lies slanted against a bulletin board that serves as a frame floating slightly above the ground. Enclosed within the bulletin board is memorabilia of Song E Yoon’s career as a visual artist. The paint streams down the canvas over and over through the unseen forces of wind and gravity. Yoon constructs the environment, the environment then creates the painting. The painting translates where these hidden dimensions exist. The intangible power, free of human power communicates with the environment to open the process of art raising the question of who does this work of art belong to? who does this memory belong to?
