“True creation springs from an idea’s seed, nurtured in quiet introspection and shaped by awareness.” Konstantinos Efimidis, born in 1962, graduated from the Moscow University of Fine Arts painting department in 1989. Since 1992, he has been residing and working in Thessaloniki, Greece. He is a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece, the Visual Artists Association of Northern Greece (SCETB), the Russian-Greek Chamber of Moscow, and the International Art Foundation of Russia. His name appears in "The Atlas of Greek Diaspora" as a distinguished representative of painters of Greek descent. Konstantinos's most notable and expansive creation is “Alexander The Great – Battle of Issus”, a battle scene spanning 27 meters in width and 3.5 meters in height. This painting is displayed in the Officers Chamber’s Ceremony Hall at the Officers' Club of the 3rd Army Corps in Thessaloniki. For this work, he received a state award from the then-President of Greece, Konstantinos Stephanopoulos. Also housed in the same location is the painting “1940 Battle against Italians in Northern Greece” (2003, 2.6m X 3.6m). Kostantinos Efimidis's paintings are featured in the Municipal Art Gallery of Thessaloniki, the Drama Art Gallery, and the Moscow Museum, as well as in both public and private collections worldwide. In September 2017, his "Saint George" painting (1.24m x 3.34m, oil, charcoal, canvas) was gifted by the Greeks of Russia to commemorate Moscow's 870th anniversary and is now displayed in a Russian Museum. ARTIST'S STATEMENT: In my art, the human element is central—their raw essence, life principles, emotions, interactions with the world, and the beauty mirrored within them. Therefore, my work encompasses figurative, abstract, surrealistic, and stylized elements. I utilize various styles and techniques, discovering intriguing methods for self-expression in the process—this defines my style. I like to draw this way, changing styles and directions, striving to master various new techniques, using different materials—oil, acrylic, ink, watercolour, charcoal, pencil, canvas, cardboard and paper. This is how I explore the previously unknown to me, expanding my possibilities. I hope this will help others discover their unique ways of expressing creativity in the future. I frequently use a pencil to make sketches and drawings, outlining my ideas.
