simulacrum The drawing in charcoal on paper was made from the image of an asana maithuna, refers to the myth of the origin of the painting. According to Pliny the Elder, the daughter of the potter Dibutades Sicyone, loved a young man who was leaving for a long trip and aiming to save the figure lover, with the aid of a lamp she designed the shadow of the boy and circled with coal. Similar to a reflected image in the mirror, the shadow is virtual. And the shadow is only effective if the current is, but the outline of the shadow is apparent effective. The same shadow follow her lover on the long journey, but the outline of the shadow would be saved, next to the girl. The myth is erotic because content. The painting begins with a double negation, the outline of the shadow, which is the image of the image - a simulacrum.

The use of maps and routes seeing from above is getting more and more usual in the town where I live. This day by day life experience enters my work as an enthropic landscape. There is a sort of geometry in the fitting/unfitting of the fields, which is done in the act of painting. Inside the canvas limits I create areas of tension and silence, I superpose and juxtapose layers of oil colours and beewax. I use colour and matter in order to create formal relationships, hierarchies between mass territories and colour fields, noises and I control the clear cutting of the stencils. Sueli Espicalquis Sueli Espicalquis with map references of everyday life, is singularly the anatomy of contemporary architecture from overlapping geometric forms and pictorially.
