Drawing: Ink, Paper, Digital on Paper.
SUMI-E is the Japanese word for Black Ink Painting. East Asian Painting and writing developed together in ancient China using the same materials —brush and ink on paper. Emphasis is placed on the beauty of each individual stroke of the brush.
I do these SUMI-E drawings on cheap paper because so many are wasted. I select the successful ones scan them and print them as limited editions on archival paper. The paper used is acid-free 100% cotton fiber with an elegant natural white textured surface.
Once the edition is printed I destroy the original and the digital files. This is an edition of 10.
Prints are signed and numbered in pencil.
