I've been an artist for many years, and I was born in NYC, in Brooklyn to be exact. My art has always captured the vibe, energy, and dynamics of New York. I studied fine arts and design at Brooklyn College, then later at Long Island University, C.W. Post. Much of my early work has it's roots in the early 20th century style of Italian Futurism, with its many moving lines, layering and color. As my work progressed, I found an interest in Pop art, and everyday things, and how they interact with each other compositionally. I think it's fascinating to consider how there are billions of things interacting with each other in any single moment of time. I try to convey this notion of "simultaneity" in my art. My art has also evolved into a more "child-friendly" type of art, and exhibits cats, dogs, objects, places, and a child Lady Liberty (Lil Libby). There are also "minion" type characters who seems to find their way happily into any scene. The statue of Liberty is of special importance to me, not only as a New Yorker, but as an artist and human being. Lady Liberty stands as a symbol of peace and freedom to all in the world, and through my art I like to interpret her as a child spreading that message to the world through her travels. Many years ago I was part of a group show in an old Civil War structure on the East river facing Lady Liberty, and her presence was striking. At that show, I sold my first Liberty-inspired painting to a tourist form London, and ever since I decided to make her a theme in many of my works. I hope others can continue to appreciate her new child-like mission in my new works, and I hope my work invokes a sense of fun and happiness in your space. Thank you.
