The Day Of Our Survival (Extinction Series) Drawing

Extinction evokes horror, struggle and death. Yet there is also a peace at the end that we forget at the end of a life, as life stops in time and begins living in eternity. The Extinction Series juxtaposes the dark terror of death and the brilliance of eternity as the audience is invited to reflect on the darkness and brightness of the shiny saturated surface. Survival is always on our minds. Each time we survive and overcome, we celebrate and mourn. Celebrate what we have won, and mourn what we have lost. What have we given up to live? It is at this paradoxical point that we find this worn human figure, her back half turned, in contemplation of gain and loss that she contemplates - the day of our survival.
