About The Artwork

«Missing» une série qui évoque l’Exil. Je travaille ce sujet d’actualité qui me tient particulièrement à cœur en réalisant des portraits imaginaires ou d’après photographies, pour nous renvoyer aux conséquences de la politique mondiale de l’immigration. Pour rappeler que quotidiennement, des femmes, des enfants et des hommes meurent dans l’espoir d’une intégration finalement en suspens.

My artworks, “whether they are carrying a political message, or representations of the past that aim to question and shake up prejudices – have in common the creation of a direct dialogue with the viewer, and that they are banished from the spaces of official memories, from authorized political debate, and from the official historical record.” * I keep a close and critical watch on the daily events of our world, and I work daily in my studio on drawings, paintings, sculptures, and stencils, to identify and trace the outlines of the different political policies and viewpoints that are determining our future. My art puts into actions my thoughts, a view that looks to break down today's human condition in search of it's ethical base; my works use different formats, including the walls of the city, and emanate from intuitive reflections, as in a visceral reaction. An all-suctioning Colonial straw, an hallucinatory hummingbird, animals stuck in a bog of Nutella, the rescues after shipwrecks, the ravaged tropics, hearts and declarations of struggle. A joy and an anger inscribed in a gesture, in line and color, registered in my sketchbooks, and deployed and rendered public in the spaces and environments in which I work. My artistic path draws upon my background in cinema, where for five years I developed skills in the production of set décor, on my wall art creations for the homes of wealthy aesthetes in France and other countries, and on my Street Art works in Paris and elsewhere. My artworks are expressed in different formats : local actions in my Paris neighborhood that play upon my Paris neighbors, thematic exhibitions, nomadic projects and installations – taking on a project which implicates those around me widens the horizons of my actions and is a way of bringing about a moment of reflection or exchange, the creation of a dialogue. My works contain a positive force and a desire to reinvent the world, without forgetting the roots and reasons that shape it's actual state. In 2014 I was awarded an artist's residence at l'Institut Francais du Cap Vert where I created a work that sprang from local memory; from 2012 to 2015 I was asked to create works for Paris' Nuit Blanche event; in 2018 two residences, one in Douala in Cameroon at Wemah Art Project, where for nearly two months I created several urban works, the other at Street Art City in central France with an installation that will remain through 2020.
