About The Artwork

"A theatre with a curtain has vanished!", is the work that follows the path of exposing the being. We are brought to the moment when, not only that the curtain between us and the public is falling down, but also the construction of the mental theatre is vanishing completely. In that way a mulitplied pirandellian procession of numerous figures lined through the whole surface can reveal its complete spectrum. Those are the figures existing in every man raging from the wild, instinctive Diabolus, across the deformed Budha and numerous other variants of existance of which each one presents one separate pattern of behaviour. Centrally portraited being is built by a white transparent tissue whose limits are marked with revealing...

Danijel Srdarev, a painter and graphic artist graduate, was born on August 13th 1981 in Šibenik, where he lived until he finished high school. In 2001 he enrolled into the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, where he studied the phenomenon of drawing under the mentorship by Professor Nives Kavurić-Kurtović. In 2007 he graduated in the class of Professor Zlatko Keser. He has been painting, making graphics, sculpting, and illustrating since 2001. He received the Rector’s award from the University of Zagreb (2005) and the academic excellence scholarship“Top stipendija” (2006). In 2004 he was honored by JBBY (Japanese Board on Books for Young People) who invited him to participate in four exhibits in Tokyo, Japan, in the category “Excellent artist”, chosen on the 19th Biennale of illustration in Bratislava among artists from all over the world. He participated in over fifty group exhibits in Croatia and abroad (New York, Tokyo, Amsterdam, The Hague, Bratislava, Belgrade, Bologna, Maribor, Leipzig, Bitola, etc.). He held ten solo exhibits. He participated in numerous projects and workshops, and completed projects with other artists. He published many illustrated children’s books and he illustrated different periodicals (magazines, books, annual reports, catalogues, etc.) and album covers. His works are displayed as a part of numerous collections in Croatia and abroad. He is a member of HZSU (Croatian Freelance Artists’ Association). He lives and works in Zagreb.
