In the era of hyper-consumerist leisure and the introduction of the visual and virtual into the new modes of relationship, it seems urgent to review the aesthetic and, perhaps, adjust it to its original etymology. From the Greek aisthetikos, it is defined as the knowledge that is acquired by the senses. These knowledge that come to us when we contemplate, listen, taste, inhale or caress have been traditionally reviled by philosophy and science, since they had direct access to emotion without going through reason. However, recent research by neurologist Antonio Damasio values ​​feelings, as a mental experience of emotions, by granting them the role of agents of motivation and control in the construction of culture, or what we understand by civilization. But at some point in the history of art, the aesthetic ceased to relate to the sensitive perception to opt for beauty as a sensual experience or whatever pleases the senses. The question is not to stop perceiving and feeling but to be in charge of our sensory system and to be able to discern the information we let pass. It is not easy to answer the question of how far the shock of the phantasmagoria that hides or alters reality and saturates the senses preventing us from reacting influences us. What does it mean to be immersed in excess and empty spectacularization as a consumerist ideal of mass culture? ? It is clear that having a wine with friends, such as having a profile on Instagram, fosters social relationships and produces a sense of well-being. On the contrary, addiction to alcohol, drugs or social networks hinders quality communication and learning; it conditions, subjects and isolates the individual while obstructing and depleting all his sensory and cognitive abilities. The danger of the anesthetized individual lies in how he is stripped of his political position and incapacitated for criticism and action.
