About The Artwork

Submitted for your approval is this circa 1989 Apple Macintosh Portable M5120 Computer. It was Apple's FIRST attempt to produce a portable version of a desktop computer. It was partially engineered by computer scientist Alan Kay, working with Steve Jobs, and was the first laptop computer with a GUI interface. Despite its hefty weight, the Mac Portable was well-designed. It featured an advanced active-matrix LCD screen, up to 9 MB of SRAM, a 1.44MB floppy disk drive. Its lead-acid battery -- responsible for most of the machine's weight -- offered 8 to 10 hours of autonomy which was quite an achievement at that time. This Iconic Portable Computer was built, in limited numbers, for only 18 months, thus it's rarity. Included are the 1989 factory original: case, books, AC power supply. Appears to be a very early build serial number. Offered as a wonderful historical display artifact for home or office or in a collection. A powerful sculptural statement for any computer indusrty based executive or Mac devotee. Looks ideal displayed on a shelf or large desk. A true, super rare, vintage Early Computer artifact. While not a distinct cinema related piece, this is a true rarity for any 20th century technology collector and we are proud to have it in our gallery. As with all of our pieces, a signed and sealed Certificate Of Authenticity is included with your purchase. ~Like artifacts of an ancient civilization - these rare legends of early Motion Picture and related production equipment technology - have a secure and appreciating place in history.~ About Cinema Antiques: We have dedicated workshops, warehouses and showrooms in Dallas Texas USA where we prepare, display and sell our rare Motion Picture equipment antiques. NOTE: Due to the nature of online photo reproduction we cannot be responsible for exact photographic color, hue, contrast and flash and non flash exposure accuracy in our photos. While we do our best to display photos that are as accurate as possible, our photos may or may not depict the absolute EXACT hue or color tone of our antiques due to the many variables in image photography, image exporting, image uploading and viewer monitor accuracy. Please ask about color tone and hue BEFORE buying, if this is a concern! We have a gallery showroom where all of our antiques are on display and we will gladly offer in person viewings of our antiques to any designers and buyers that need to 'put eyes' on our antiques. We welcome all visits to our gallery, by appointment. NOTE: In the interest of antique presentation and historical accuracy, we do not alter or modify our electrical, mechanical or electronic antiques, with the exception of some vintage light fixtures (which we DO correctly convert internally to modern electrical working household standards). Therefore some electrical and mechanical items MAY or may not perform and operate. We sell these as accurate display and collectible antique items. We suggest that these artifacts be used for display and not be operated. Please ask for more details on operability of our electrical and mechanical antiques if operability is a concern. We are ALWAYS here to help and offer many options for the proper presentation of your Cinema Antiques. Thank You.
