About The Artwork

The artwork is performed in a mixed media in a technique typical for me as an artist. The idea emerged while I was travelling on a bike through Belarussian flatlands. I was excited by the beauty of Belarusian nature, the wideness of fields and pink sunset on the horizon with a contrast of Belarusian culture of potato pick up. This work includes the contrast and at the same time the harmony of human and nature

When I was a child my granddad Ivan taught me to play violin. His violin was antique. Granddad was a musician and an artist. He painted with oil on anything he could find: tablecloth, old linen. At his place, in a room on the floor laid the carpet he painted the picture on. That was a copy of Briullov’s “The last day of Pompeii”. I still can’t forget it. My dad Vladimir Vlasik was a professional artist, painter. Dad died very early, I was less than a year old baby. Still I have his wonderful paintings, landscapes and still-lifes, in our family collection. I was brought up by my mom Vera. Sunny person who loves people and life. I owe her everything. What does creativeness stand for? That is life as well - just the other form. Without work in a studio I begin to fade and get sick. Luckily, I meet understanding at home. And I feel gratitude to my family for this. I am anxious of connection between national traditions and modern culture. Therefore I often use mixed media techniques, combine weaving, tapestry, ceramics, sewing. I don’t afraid of anything in my work. Just continue doing it. I have a keen sense of relation between music and image, between sound and color. I have always been exited with modern music avant-garde. How often it soaks up traditions of national culture and along with it, uncovers vexed problems of our time. This principle emerges in my artworks. I admire paintings of Renaissance artists, my heart lies close to artworks of Van Goth, Matisse, Cezanne, impressionists. The art of primitive, children's crafts amazes with its freedom, ingenious insight. I am captured by Russian Avangarde of the end XIX – beginning XX centuries. Being a student of an art college I fell unconscious when saw the paintings of Kazimir Malevich in Russian museum, so strong was the energetic of his works. I feel dramatic for the decadence of the world and nature. I dedicate such depletion to the prosperity of the newest technologies. In this situation I always have an escape – the run to work and creativity. I can’t stand hypocrisy, suburbia, soullessness in people. In friends I appreciate readiness to help, and ability to share happiness.
