About The Artwork
Cancer is part of my life and central to my art at present. The wall installation ‘Cholangiocarcinoma Helpline’ contains a host of emotional artefacts, anxiety clocks, fragmented faces, and the Talisman, small resin figures, some jaundice yellow, some blindfolded, one bandaged, one revealing her insides, but hey! She's wearing a party frock! That one is called ‘Cholangiocarcinoma Debutante’. These small works are made just that bit more uncomfortable by being presented as necklaces or brooches. The work has been described as ‘Challenging her situation with a mixture of displeasure, indignation and a large dose of grim humour.’
