Cone of Shame. "Katya" Installation

Cone is a metaphor that each man builds an invisible shell to feel himself safe and insulate out of stress. His shell is his home and his jail at the same time. Inside the shell there’s a room for all kinds of thoughts and worries. This inner dialogue surround head like the crown of thorns, it makes the consciousness feel numb and depressive. The project was based on the stories of my friends. I recorded their monologues about being obsessed with life and the inability to go beyond the predictable, the fear of taking a step aside, breaking chains, removing the limitations of the mind. Art objects were used in a performance in which the dancers took off these collars, as if freeing their minds from barriers. The collars have fasteners, so they can be safely worn by pets.The clasps are designed for small dogs. Strap length is 14,5 inches. Chain is not included, it was used only during the performance.
