About The Artwork

The English expression Ha-Ha, which has also become common in German, can be explained from the onomatopoeic exclamation of astonishment. The Ha Ha, not recognizable from a distance, is only visible when approaching, amazes the visitor who, surprised, often comments the construction with Ha- Ha or „Aha„.[1] [1]Bill Bryson: Eine kurze Geschichte der alltäglichen Dinge. Wolfgang Sobolewski was interested in art in his early teens and practiced artistic techniques such as screen printing, etching, lithography and calligraphy in addition to photography. His professional career led him to photography, which he operated with his studio for advertising photography until 2015 and today devotes himself entirely to his artistic work. He is mainly interested in nature and landscape photography and does not necessarily care about the natural image of nature. Newer documentary black and white works from the year 2017 are "Two days before" and "Molenwater" The series "Curtains of Love", which started in 2016, shows multi-layered motifs of nature and artificial nature, some of which resemble dream scenes and merge into one motif. The work "Strolls" shows unspectacular nature motives that originated around Sobolewski's place of residence, a former center of coal and heavy industry (Ruhr Area).
