In praise of shadows’ (2011) presents a voiceless sermon. Reading an excerpt from Isaiah 42:16 the hands of the absent preacher would find the top surface of a late nineteenth century chapel pulpit blistered in braille on strips of 12mm black dymo tape with the verse; “And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I unto them, and not forsake them.” Is there truth within light?
