Lumière verticale Installation

From a young age, I kept in a small corner of my memory fabulous images of a Riad in Fez, Morocco, which belonged to my uncle. The walls of the Riad were decorated with Zellij tiles) with small pieces cleverly colored and cleverly arranged to form dazzling geometric shapes, the ceilings were carved wood and the tops of the columns were gypsum carved with arabesques that looked like tree branches hanging down. The Riad was crossed by a small trickle of water which produced a form of music that added to the harmony of this little corner of paradise. These geometric figures were the center of my interest. Everything started from the center with a small star which looked like a sun which projected its rays. These rays of sun became straight lines and the more they crossed the more they drew geometric shapes with shimmering colors that looked like stars, planets around this sun in the center. From chaos was born a concert of harmony, beauty, and serenity. All these impressions remained buried in my memory for years, then I went to make films where consciously or unconsciously I reproduce again these models. Often, I have been told that my films in their structures are geometric and very colorful. A few years ago and after a career of more than forty years in the cinema I found myself in another Riad which belonged to my brother, and all these fragments of memory woke up as if by magic and it is at this precise moment when I decided to share these moments of serenity with the world.
