About The Artwork

Malimbus Tapestry is a mural unique piece in design and accessories. The tapestry has linen and cotton strings, it also has recycled mother-of-pearl accessories. The clove hitch knot or cross knot is the protagonist of this unique piece mural. It is a safe and versatile knot that is suitable for many trades. The design of the Malimbus tapestry is in search of the symmetry of the form and the clarity of simplicity. I recycled mother-of-pearl circles from a wind chime that I bought at a second-hand flea market. Mother-of-pearl forms the inner layer of the shell of many mollusks. In the Mediterranean, the most exploited species are the náyade auriculada and the nacra. Part of the etymology of the word nacre refers to “striking with a repeated noise.” This definition describes human behavior. We hit nature too many times and we make too much noise. Isn’t the extinction of other species already a repeated noise? Luckily, science has managed to manufacture very good quality artificial mother-of-pearl at low cost. Good news for mollusks! The Malimbus tapestry speaks of the banality of devastation, the magic of nature and celebrates the benefits of science. About the combination of red cotton with the raw of linen, it results in a powerful mixture. Red is the color of fire and blood it is fundamentally linked to life. The tapestry is a mural unique piece in design and accessories. Also, the tapestry has a supporting branch that comes from the pruning of trees in the city of Barcelona. Preserves its natural beauty. My goal is to create pieces of art that tell stories. Original and exclusive pieces. My first education was in sociology. I have always had the desire to develop a universal and intergenerational language. Thus, I studied Plastic Arts applied to Sculpture at the Massana School in Barcelona. I enjoy autonomy and conceptual freedom in the creative process. So, experimentation and the meeting of disciplines are an inexhaustible source of inspiration.
