About The Artwork

When I refer to this work as being about self-exile, I meant it and I found this subject very personal as much as very general, a subject wich can be found in the present society. It is about migration (as much as I hate saying it) and about founding a certain place, one fitted for your own needs. In one hand is about losing the national identity, about integration and the struggle for personal independency. On the other hand it is about the greek term of "ostrakon", by all means exile/exilation, normally a person being exiled by a group of people (but in this case self-exile). The stones represent the most simple form of vote, I am multiplying them because of the need to justify my exile. By randomly choosing one rock and multiply it, he became something more, he's transcending into the visible world. Bocomes visible and becomes an object of study.
