Art Description

Installation: Wax, Wood on Wood, Soft (Yarn, Cotton, Fabric).

I have been slowly pushing the boundaries of shape in painting. This piece represents a step forward into shapes that go beyond the rectangle. I’m also introducing fabric to my work for the first time. The dark blue wedge shape in the smaller piece is wood covered in blue velvet.

This piece is in two parts, one is a deconstructed wood panel board, measuring 24” squat with white encaustic paint and raw wood. The wedge in the center of the piece is cut out, exposing the wall underneath.

The second part measured 24”w x 12”h, and consists of blue velvet, wood, and white encaustic paint.
