This work is a reliëf with acrylic painted paper in many shades of pink and yarn that portray the (city) landscape of Holland. The subtle use of colours and detailed texture play a refined game with the light and determine the character of the work. I zoom in on patterns, structures, light. How it forms an endless wealth of color shades. In this way of painting, folding en wrapping yarn in many shades of pink/oker/yellow I visualise my interpretation of details from nature, as seen through my eyes: modest but with a huge amount of intriguing details. The work can be characterised as expressions of silent abstraction. I want to point the eye of the beholder to the beauty in the daily world around us.

Paméla Maria lives and works in Amsterdam. She makes collages and reliefs with different materials and techniques such as photography, paint and yarn. The 'beauty of the everyday' and 'nothing is what it seems' are leading themes in her work. The beauty of the Dutch landscape is an important source of inspiration for her. Zooming in on the endless wealth of patterns, structures, color shades and light, she captures details in the (urban) landscape with her camera. She questions the meaning of those moments, by cutting up, painting over, and wrapping the image. The ‘interweaving’ of her impressions translates into layered images that meander between abstract and realistic. 'Trees’ series: A lovesong about the beauty and diversity of trees. Medium: Nikon Z6, digital print on Hahnemulle paper, yarn 'The Days’ series: Fast, full, sensual, energetic clouds in the sky limit the endlessness of the universe and make me aware of being a temporary, tiny spot. What is the meaning of being that? What is time? By scratching lines, in squars, of the plexiglas I make it tactile. Past, present and future become tangible. Medium: Nikon Z6, gold and silver wax, plexiglas photo (Fuji paper) on dibond. ‘Reflections’ series: Water and air influence each other and form an endless wealth of color shades. Medium: Nikon Z6, digital print on Hahnemulle paper, yarn 'Vertical City' and 'Twilight' series: are rooted in the strict rhythm of (office) facades where the idea of space or foreground/background is not defined by shape or color, but only by the texture.
