ABOUT THE ARTWORK
In response to the isolation I began making circles that evolved in different patterns and different spacial relationships. The works became a series called: The Safety of Circles. This piece: Tracking came later in the series when we became aware that everyone we came in contact with might have consequences. The Circles are larger and layered and they are all connected somehow. The work is hung with straight pins and floats on the wall with the threads hanging freely.

Gwen Samuels is an installation artist based in Los Angeles with a studio in Santa Monica. Inspired by close observations of her surroundings, she has sculpted the reformatted shape of animals, insects and dresses with delicate hand-stitching and free hanging strings. She also expresses her imagery in textile, cultures, travel and architecture often with repeated patterns and irregular shapes. Her work has been represented in numerous solo and group exhibitions both nationally and internationally.
