This past few months has seen me experimenting with the digital process. These new pieces are based on my three happy years living and painting in Bodieve, North Cornwall. I have always been drawn to the mining history of Cornwall, none more so than the Levant mine spectacularly perched on the Cornish cliffs. Using close up hi-res scans from my paintings I have been creating new pieces of work on my iMac combining the textures from those scans with new drawings creating a range of new work relating to nature. My new work draws on my past experience as both a graphic designer and an artist and only by chance did this process come about when looking at the detail of a recent painting. My new work does not rely on AI. It is all painstakingly knitted together from my drawings and scans but with the added bonus of being able to adjust and play with vibrant colours. Once a piece has been completed and proofed it is printed as a limited edition of 1 of 1 - Giclee print onto 315gsm archival canvas, using the best longevity inks. The final printed image size of 24 x 19 ins - (60.96 x 48.7 cm) will have an added 3 inch plain border all around the image(final canvas size 30"x 25" (76.2x63.5cm) so that it can be framed without any loss of image. The artwork will be packed very carefully - rolled and bubble-wrapped, inside large diameter toughened cardboard tubes, to ensure that it reaches you in excellent condition.

After leaving School in London, Imrati started work as a junior in a west end art studio where he set out to learn his trade. Six months of delivering artwork all over the capital left him with a ‘Knowledge’ not far short of a London black cab driver, concluding in a 30 year creative career as a graphic designer, working for design and advertising agencies. This successful experience led him to run his own design company in Norfolk specialising in design for print, which he continues to do to this day. Art and design has literally been his way of life, creating and designing for a broad range of local and international companies. During the course of his career he has developed techniques and skills in both traditional and digital disciplines which he now draws on for his fine art projects. His particular passions during his career were visualising and illustration, the result being that during the last few years he has spent more time in his garden studio painting in oils and acrylic. Imrati records all his work with his camera. Whilst photographing one particular painting, he became interested in the textures of the paint, so started shooting close ups with no specific reason other than the interest value. He now puts those textures to good use by combining them with drawings and creating new pieces on his iMac. After proofing he then digitally prints one copy only of each individual piece of work. Irate loves the combination of painting and technology “A facsinating medium”. Outside of design Imrati has a love for nature. He spends much of his time outside of work walking through the local countryside or along the coast with his Cairn Terrier, Mungo. He is well aware of the drastic changes to the countryside and the ongoing threat of climate change, both of which now feature heavily in his work.
