ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Desire is complex. Whether you are a male or a female many factors play a role in how our desire manifests itself. Many believe that the male erection is indicative of desire yet we all know that a male can be intimate without desire. In my opinion there is no such thing as having no desire. Each person is different. Each person has triggers, requirements and preferences. How we connect intimately with another person is a series of checks and balances. Does desire wane or does it simply change with time? Do changes in desire simply mean that it wasn’t there to begin with? This work of art is done on acid-free paper. The drawing is created in Liquitex Professional Acrylics and Ink and Liquitex gesso. The work is signed. I provide a certificate of authenticity. Stewart Fletcher’s paintings, drawings and works on paper have been the subject of numerous solo and group exhibitions over the past forty years. His paintings, drawings and works on paper are part of several private international collections in over 20 countries and in 36 American States. Known for his fascination with the human body, Fletcher explores various concepts beyond the representational image. The great equalizer he believes is when one's clothing is removed. All identifiers and societal statuses disappear and the real person appears. Fletcher does not believe that his work is erotic, however some people do because of their social, religious and regional upbringing. He often uses humour and satire to convey his views on the world around him..
