ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The series is a reminiscence of what happened on April 14-15, 2014, but with an alternative cast. They are female students aged 16 to 18 who were kidnapped by the Islamic terrorist group “Boko Haram” from the Government Girls’ Secondary School in the town of Chibok in the state of Borno, Nigeria. Until today, some of the girls have not been found. Not even their bodies or anything. Since 2014. I therefore created a series of more than 20 expressive female portraits. Each face carries an expression. Describing a "state of mind" of each person. For example the devasted ones or the brave ones who escaped even before they got into custody e.t.c
