ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The painter "Mark Rothko" inspired me. Want to honor him. By making ColorField it's looking at one of his paintings but in 3D. I think he would have really liked the idea. I was also inspired by the flysch along our coast of Hendaye in the Basque Country. By the tangy colors, I like Italian candies "Tutti-Fruti".

I was born in Paris in 1962 ; my workshop is located in Bask country. Fanfan, a contemporary French artist and technical virtuoso, is constantly looking for innovative pigment materials and complex techniques. For Fanfan, the symbiotic relationship between artisan and artist holds deep meaning, creating a harmonious blend of craftsmanship and artistic expression. In Fanfan's artistic field, the interaction of color compositions is a carefully measured dance, but it exudes a sense of freedom in space. Delicate and seemingly random, the colors come to life, creating a visual symphony that captivates the viewer. This color choreography reaches a new level of refinement when juxtaposed with synthetic crystal, elevating the visual experience. The joy of Fanfan’s artistry is palpable. His designs not only highlight the flow of dreams, but also adopt splashes as a distinctive painterly form. This dynamic play with color and form draws inspiration from artistic luminaries such as Arman, Jackson Pollock and Sam Francis, revealing a nuanced dialogue between tradition and contemporary innovation. Several of Fanfan's recent works bear the undeniable influence of emblematic monuments: the Statue of Liberty by sculptor Auguste Bartholdi and the Eiffel Tower. Known throughout the world and characterized by their monochrome presence, these monuments become a vibrant playground for this artist of color. Fanfan's reinterpretation breathes new life into these symbols, transforming them into dynamic canvases that resonate with his signature style. In Fanfan's hands, art becomes a means by which tradition is reinvented and contemporaneity is celebrated. The technical precision she brings to her work clashes with an unbridled joy in experimentation. The result is a body of work that not only pays homage to artistic influences, but also forges a unique path that speaks to the artist’s individuality and mastery of his craft. Fanfan's art is an invitation to delight in the beauty of color, form and the limitless possibilities that arise when tradition and innovation converge.
