“It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men’s hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that emanation from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit.” ― Robert Louis Stevenson I'm feeling that part of my job description is to help bring that feeling of well-being that we get from trees indoors, for those times when we cannot be outside amongst them. All works from the "Just Breathe" series are created on paper mounted wood panels artfully painted & splashed with pure watercolors. The rich texture of the trees are created with collaged junk mail and recycled litter I clean up off scenic highways, as a gentle reminder that if we do not stop trashing the planet, trees will not grow from our garbage in the future. The overall result is an aesthetically alluring composition with a hidden message about protecting our forests. Ready to hang. No framing required. The entire piece is finished with two coats of archival satin varnish, creating a contemporary yet natural look. The edges are natural wood.
