About The Artwork

The historical image of Napoleon is brought to modern times as in a time machine, only it appears on a carousel horse, in the middle of a fair. The intention is to transform the meaning of an icon, resignify it, give it new values and meanings, rewrite it a new story. The original technique is by means of colored points made in vectors and then converted into a pixel image, the original image is scalable to any size without losing its resolution. Once the size of the image is defined, it is reproduced on cotton paper. An additional attraction to this piece is that from a distance the image appears to be a detailed photograph and when approaching it it is perceived that the image is made by a pattern of solid colored dots.

Saatchi Art NFT artist #SaatchiArtNFTArtist My name is José Luis Guerrero.I was born and raised in Guadalajara, Jalisco, México.I went to the Escuela de Artes Plásticas (School of Visual Arts)at the University of Guadalajara to study Advertising. That helped me find amazing jobs as a graphic designer and creative director for many agencies in Guadalajara and in Mexico City. Basically, my pieces can be defined as collages, mixtures of artworks from various epochs that I decontextualize and vandalize.By doing this, they can have a very different meaning from the original one; sometimes they even symbolize an opposite sense. These collages are based on the premise that one can“gather two known ideas to get a new one. ”My objective is to re signify an artwork by creating a playful visual effect, and at the same time to send critical messages about controversial issues.
