At the age of 19, I left my native Taiwan to attend art school in the US. My mother, a Chinese painter and calligrapher, who had a significant influence on my artistic development from a young age. Despite my conventional upbringing, I found myself drawn to experimental film and conceptual art. I went to Otis College of Art and Design, and later at CalArts. However, I eventually gravitated back to my roots in drawing and painting. Following a successful career in documentary filmmaking, I decided to return to my first love and focus on my art once again, realizing that the traditional techniques I had initially shunned were what I genuinely missed. I am grateful to have a deep appreciation for the art world, and I am patient when it comes to exploring various mediums, ranging from pencil to oil paint, and from sculpture to film. With my classical and Eastern cultural upbringing and contemporary art school experiences, I blend both extremes in my work. Art is a process of self-discovery, and I invite you to join me on this artistic journey.
