My name is Petra Verlooij. I am a paintress from the Netherlands. My main subject is abstract, animals and wildlife. I love to wander through the Zoo with my sketchbook and camera looking for beautiful compositions for my paintings My paintings have abstract compositions with the animal as a part of it. That's a symbol for the rightful place the animals or the wildlife have in this world. I start with a abstract composition. I love the coincendence of the planes, the splashes and the stripes. The coloring is natural with some bright colors to make it more interesting. Afterwards I surch for a place to paint an animal in the composition. I only paint a part of it to make the whole unexpected and interesting. Its like superposition to create from two images one painting. Species are disappearing because there habitat disappears. Only the number of humans increases fast. With my paintings I give the animals a voice and I paint them with great passion.
