ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This series of 10 works was inspired by retro LIFE magazines - a publication that was dedicated to famous stars of cinema, theater, and music. The pieces combine mixed media and painting. First, I create a manipulated digital image and print it on canvas, using museum quality giclée print technology. Over this background, I paint, as well as construct a collage with various clipping materials. The painting portion combines a mix of acrylics, gesso, pen, and pastel. This combination gives me a feeling of complete freedom of choice and self-expression. Majority of incorporated collage elements are authentic and vintage, including pages from 1940-1970 LIFE magazine editions, mail stamps, 45 rpm records, and so on. I was consciously influenced by mid-century film posters. I titled this series "LIFE with the Stars".

-------- Born and raised in Ukraine, former Soviet Union. Many years ago I have come to conclusion that my efforts should be concentrated at fine arts. Thanks to my persistence and the public acknowledgement I became a professional artist, painter and successful graphic designer. Of course my best inspirers are Gustav Klimt and Alphonse Muha. I can not imagine my life without music. I very like classical music especially Gustav Mahler, and jazz – Chick Corea is my favorite. Moreover – my wife is the Doctor of Music. Nevertheless I am working in my studio in a full silence. It gives me best condition for realization an emotions and aesthetic pleasure. In the middle of ninetieth I was forced to leave my country. Now we are living in Atlanta, Georgia. In result I obtained new possibilities in the life and creation. Now I am involved in the implementation of a large and ambitious project to create a gallery of portraits of famous personalities who no doubt enriched modern civilization.
