Fish Drawing 2 Artwork

Editing a video is akin to breaking down numerous sequences of a long rectangle into visually pleasing segments. Given the limitations of human perception and memory, it's impossible to say that we've seen everything displayed in a video. To capture the images that might be missed, I often slow down short videos to create long, drawn-out sequences or stretch them out like taffy, then cut them back down to create a stop-motion effect. Scottish artist Douglas Gordon's early work '24 Hours Psycho' is a piece that appropriates Alfred Hitchcock's 'Psycho', stretching the original 109-minute film into a 24-hour slow-motion experience. The once fast-paced thriller becomes a series of still images, revealing intricate details of the film that we otherwise might have missed. The essence of my doctoral exhibition lies in this idea of extending the viewing time to expose the finer details. The drawings on the wall are works made by painting with acrylic on photographs of a stream. After filming the minnows swimming in the stream for a few seconds, I selected a few sequences, printed them, and painted over them. Watching the small fish swim triggered various thoughts simultaneously, which I abstractly expressed through drawing.
