As with all my creative endeavors I purposefully begin without a plan. The challenge of not knowing and allowing the flow of creativity to drive my experimental passion allows me to feel the unknown. It pushes me to thoughts of expression that otherwise would not exist. Think about it – knowing the outcome at the beginning is like reading the last page of a book first. WHY? As I scoured through the aisles of my favorite thrift store I found a small flat piece of wood followed by a similar discovery of an unrelated small circular wood chunk. As I stood in the store I laid the wood upon each other and envisioned my next “Masterpiece”. A creative seed was planted in my head as I stood there and brought it all back to my studio. In the studio, with the wood pieces stacked I felt the urge for color and texture. As I looked in several boxes of found material I have accumulated over the years I began to create – rope, twine, cardboard, leather, denim, and the process unfurled. With no rhyme or reason I felt I was on the correct path into the unknown.
