ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I love how heavily sculptural this piece is. Very thick joint compound was applied to a sturdy pine-cradled panel, unframed, ready to hang on wire. The joint compound was sculpted like waves or frosting, and the piece was deliberately monochromatic to force maximum innovation with a minimum of tools. Washes of color were added over time to respond to the surface, with each layer adding to the mystery. What is this piece? Why does it exist? But the most important question can only be answered by you. Do you like it? That's all it takes!
