Part of a series on Optical Illusion. This illusion was discovered in the 19th century by German physiologist Ewald Hering. Two straight lines appear curved or bowed in the context of intersecting lines with orientations that change progressively. Hiding the oblique lines from the view will reveal the fact that the horizontal bars are equally straight.
This work received the Jury’s price at the 2011 Los Alamos annual Science and Art festival.

Science inspires my art, particularly mathematics and geometry. Mountain, ocean, cloud, trees, or flowers, people all celebrate geometry in their own way. Big and small, the connections are an endless source of inspiration and awe hiding in each of my images that multiply the experience of looking at the art. Most artworks featured in my gallery are extracted from the ongoing Math-Art series available in print or format with all major distributors, Apple, Google, and Kindle.
