Icon - Clara Calamai Artwork

Interpretation of the image of Clara Calamai, actress from Prato protagonist of the movie: Deep red. This work is part of the “Icons” series. The "Icons" series was born in 2016 with the interpretation of the Mona Lisa and then continued with other masterpieces of art whose images, continuously re-proposed through the media and now rooted in a sterile way in the collective imagination, are distorted by their historical component, mythical and poetic. The "Icons" series also refers to characters from the world of art and entertainment, whose features have been so abused as to be self-referential. With my intervention I try to restore dignity to the images, producing only one original for each one, with meticulous painting techniques and mixed technique interventions. The portraits of the characters represented are defined with few essential lines. The remaining details and the background are made with acrylic or oil colors, expressly fragmented to allude to the mosaic, whose original function is the timelessness of the work. Finally, each work presents jewels that symbolically embellish it and underline its unique value. The "Icons" series therefore alludes to the desire to recover the authentic sense of beauty and contemplation.
