Blown about by the winds of circumstance this misician stipulated thier portrait have a degree of rythym and a heavy aspect of chance in its generation. I also wanted to bring clear and delicious colour with a proud and vaguely political morality flavour. To do this an innitial pencil sketch was painted over with syringe in looping random movements, then coloured elements added in pastel to give form, body and gravitas. A slightly pensive pose speaks of the deliberation in the subjects craft and the colour choices indicate the clear loud flavour in the outcomes.

Arron Kuiper (b.1984) is a Welsh artist who has practiced for over a decade in his native North Wales. He has garnered a handful of national awards, shown extensively across the U.K. including 2 Solo Exhibitions, has work on permanent display and in a number of private collections as well as featuring in international art publications. He is currently represented by Tides Gallery, Swansea. He is best known for his invention of Sculptural Oil Painting but continues to combine a wide range of media and invented techniques with work in more traditional materials. This broad experimental approach and tendency towards zero waste is borne of growing up in poverty where, though he never quite had to beg for materials (lucky, as not many people carry around a tube of burnt umber on their person) he learned to develop and produce work with whatever was to hand. His themes and inspirations are as varied as the media he uses (and let's be honest, interpretation is in the eye of the viewer), but broadly it's about the people, land, environment and history of his homeland. He continues to make work in his shed, on a hillside, in the woods of rural North Wales.
