She would talk about the stars as if she'd visited them. I counted satellites while she explained the vastness of the great black expanse above our heads, trying in vain to have me wrap my mind around infinity. No dice. But she claimed not to be all that interested in astronomy. After a lengthy and detailed series of tangents about the cosmos, she told me space was boring to her, and added, "Earth is probably the best part." I can't say that this girl was a tourist from some other world, but I wouldn't be very surprised. ~ The image was created primarily with a somewhat antiquated program, Paint Shop Pro 9, having been released in 2004. I prefer it for a number of reasons, chief among them comfort, and romantically for the limited tool set. Work on this piece took place over the course of two years, never turning out right and frustrating me to no end. The final, successful attempt took just under five hours, and of course only this time is reflected in the price. The original print is the only time this image will ever be committed to canvas, with open edition prints available on archival paper. The original is signed and dated on the back.
