Hey there, my dear collector, colleague, or curious onlooker! Let me give you a whirlwind tour of my life in a nutshell, though I must say it's quite the rollercoaster ride. I used to call Kyiv, Ukraine my home, but in the winter of 2022, I found myself whisked away to Vilnius, Lithuania. Can you guess why? Oh, the war... It had a way of turning lives upside down and splitting them into "before" and "after" chapters. In this new chapter, I decided to do more than just dabble in art; I made up my mind to become a full-fledged artist. Yep, I'm a bit of a newbie to this whole art scene. In my "before" life, I was the head honcho of design at a big printing house, and later I had my own little design studio. I never quite made it as an artist back then because I was a single parent raising my amazing daughter. My main focus was providing a stable income for us. But now, my daughter has grown into an independent soul, and voila, the "after" phase arrived! Finding myself in a new country, I decided to dust off my art skills and dive back into it, building upon those little experiments I had done in the past. And guess what? These experiments led me to a brilliant idea of capturing the very essence of a painting's soul using radiant materials, much like those talented icon painters depict otherworldly beings. Check out my Artist Statement for more on that. Oh, and here in Vilnius, I stumbled upon a rather hilarious incident! Can you believe it? I couldn't find any canvas, had no clue where to get it, and let's just say my funds were a tad limited. But then, a eureka moment struck: Canvas can be knitted! And that's how my creative journey took a surprising turn, giving birth to a unique direction that I'm eager to present for your discerning eye. I even came up with a fancy name for the style I want to explore: "subjectivism." Your support and admiration will undoubtedly help this term gain some well-deserved recognition. Or if we want to go with the classics, you could call it a delightful blend, a mixtape of sorts—I like to call it "conceptual surrealism."
