About The Artwork

The artwork is a striking tableau of surrealism, infused with a hyperrealistic quality that echoes the grandeur of Salvador Dalí's landscapes. Its phantasmagorical elements—levitating orbs, whimsical machinery, and orange-hued skies—create a world that hovers between dream and reality. Inspiration likely comes from Surrealist explorations of the unconscious mind, with a possible nod to the inventive spirit of Leonardo da Vinci's mechanical drawings. This piece seems to unravel the fabric of reality, presenting a universe governed by different physical laws, encouraging viewers to delve into the realm of the untapped subconscious. Viewers might feel a sense of wonder, transported to an alternate reality that is at once familiar yet unsettlingly foreign. There's an invitation to ponder the relationships between the disparate elements, to reflect on the beauty and strangeness of the dreamscape before them. The choice of mixed media is a nod to modernity; inkjet printing offers crisp, vibrant reproductions on archival paper that captures the surreal vividness, while the acrylic finishing enhances durability and visual impact. This modern approach to materials underpins the artwork's contemporary relevance, marrying the precision of digital art with the tangibility of physical media. The subject matter—a surreal, interconnected landscape—is a bold statement on the complexities of our world, suggesting a hidden harmony in chaos. The style, meticulous and clean, allows for an immersive experience, drawing the viewer into its meticulously crafted depths. The artwork stands as a testament to the fusion of technology and traditional artistry, a mirror to the multifaceted nature of human perception.

I explore the aesthetic of things through absurd, irony, abstract, and misplaced situations. In my early thirties, I joined the largest artistic avant-garde movement in the long history of the former Soviet Union. In St. Petersburg the group of artists founded the Society of Experimental Fine Arts and gave regular art exhibitions of a "new" art five years prior to the rise of Perestroika in the Soviet Union. Throughout the 1980's, my paintings were regularly shown at art exhibits. My artistic practice explores the conceptual aesthetic of things through absurd, irony and misplaced situations. It includes photo, painting, graphics, and sculpture. Since 2000s I have also been working in digital art and digital photography. Starting with raster images in Adobe Photoshop, vector graphics in Adobe Illustrator, and 3D objects in Maya/ 3ds Max, today I additionally use various text-to-image AI-driven art services like GAN & DALL·E 2 OpenAI for creating art works. My works are in Russian Museum (Saint-Petersburg, Russia), Museum of Nonconformist Art (Saint-Petersburg, Russia) and private collections in Russia, Spain, USA, Israel, France. From March 2022 I’m based in Spain. Web site: https://serge-yablonsky.co/ Arte Laguna World artist profile: https://artelaguna.world/artist/yablonsky-sergey/
