About The Artwork

This artwork is a symphony of surrealism and futurism, a dreamscape where gravity is defied and the physics of our world are playfully reimagined. Sculptural figures recline amidst an expanse dotted with airships, each element casting a serene, earth-toned hue that unites the composition. Inspiration: The piece may be inspired by the Surrealist movement, with nods to the works of Giorgio de Chirico for his metaphysical piazzas, and the technical precision of a Renaissance painting. The playful yet reflective nature of the figures and objects calls to mind the absurdist charm of René Magritte. Viewer Reaction: It invites viewers to wander through a landscape of the mind, where the limitations of the human form and technology are re-envisioned. The audience is encouraged to ponder the serenity of the figures in contrast with the dynamic flight above, evoking a contemplation of humanity’s dual quest for inner peace and outward exploration. Choice of Medium, Subject Matter, Style: The use of inkjet printing on archival art paper with an acrylic finish provides a lasting medium that captures the vibrant yet subtle palette, ensuring that the fine gradations of color and form are preserved. The subject matter of levitating forms and relaxed figures speaks to a yearning for escape and tranquility. The precise, almost clinical style is deliberate, inviting the viewer to scrutinize the surreal details within a clearly defined, almost tangible reality. In choosing this medium, subject matter, and style, the artist might be suggesting that the future of humanity's creativity lies in merging the technological with the personal, the fantastical with the real. It's a visual poem to the boundless possibilities that await in the nexus of imagination and reality.

I explore the aesthetic of things through absurd, irony, abstract, and misplaced situations. In my early thirties, I joined the largest artistic avant-garde movement in the long history of the former Soviet Union. In St. Petersburg the group of artists founded the Society of Experimental Fine Arts and gave regular art exhibitions of a "new" art five years prior to the rise of Perestroika in the Soviet Union. Throughout the 1980's, my paintings were regularly shown at art exhibits. My artistic practice explores the conceptual aesthetic of things through absurd, irony and misplaced situations. It includes photo, painting, graphics, and sculpture. Since 2000s I have also been working in digital art and digital photography. Starting with raster images in Adobe Photoshop, vector graphics in Adobe Illustrator, and 3D objects in Maya/ 3ds Max, today I additionally use various text-to-image AI-driven art services like GAN & DALL·E 2 OpenAI for creating art works. My works are in Russian Museum (Saint-Petersburg, Russia), Museum of Nonconformist Art (Saint-Petersburg, Russia) and private collections in Russia, Spain, USA, Israel, France. From March 2022 I’m based in Spain. Web site: https://serge-yablonsky.co/ Arte Laguna World artist profile: https://artelaguna.world/artist/yablonsky-sergey/
