Colorful Dreams Between Elbe and Coghinas Artist Sara Rodighiero has seen her illustrations, primarily featuring cats, published multiple times in magazines. These publications have showcased her unique style and creativity, allowing her work to reach a broader audience Born in 1981 as the child of Sardinian immigrants and raised in the rural outskirts of Hamburg, Sara Rodighiero self-taught the craft she needed for her creative madness from a young age. She developed an independent painting style through the combination of various materials and design techniques, characterized by a passionate desire for expression and an almost manic attention to detail. The overwhelming abundance of decorative elements, which can sometimes overwhelm the viewer, is anything but decorative self-indulgence. It is an expression of the complexity of all life, consistently translated by the artist into a frenzy of dots, or PuntoPazzo. Today, the artist finds her inspiration not only in personal experiences (such as a tornado over Harburg) and fundamental mythology (Apsu and Tiamat) but particularly in the culture of her Sardinian homeland. In her works, Sara Rodighiero emulsifies Central European mysticism with the occult-magical side of Sardinian folk beliefs. Behind an apparently naive facade, her world of images is populated by mythological deities, nature spirits, and mythical creatures that tear people out of their everyday lives and confront them with their dark sides, their fears, and nightmares. However, the creatures of Sara Rodighiero do not only appear frightening or eerie. They are, in an almost banal way, part of life, claiming their place among humans and not always taking themselves entirely seriously. With reverence but often with an ironic wink, Rodighiero varies her central theme: the cycle of life, transience, fertility, birth, and death. Even in the disturbing suspension in which the swirling visual force of PuntoPazzo lifts the viewer, this foundation remains in sight. However, those who are not afraid of heights will not long resist the temptation to lose themselves more and more in these pictures.
